Montacute House invites visitors to experience the Reindeer World Tour: A Christmas Journey, starting 23rd of November 2024. After delivering presents across the globe, Father Christmas’s reindeer return to Montacute, but they need help—four sacks of presents have fallen from the sleigh! Visitors are challenged to explore the gardens and discover where the sacks have landed, with clues leading them through different world-themed zones.
Inside Montacute House, the ground floor will be festively decorated, featuring a grand 15-foot Christmas tree in the Great Hall. Hidden around the house will be nine miniature sacks of presents for visitors to spot, adding a fun, interactive element for all ages.
After the adventure, guests can indulge in seasonal treats at the Courtyard Café and browse for holiday gifts in the shop. For book lovers, the Book Barn offers wrapped ‘mystery’ books, available for a donation of £3 to £5, making for a unique gift or personal treat.

Prior Park: A Peaceful Christmas Escape
New for 2024, visitors can explore the 12 Days of Christmas at Prior Park. Families can enjoy a festive adventure as the 12 Days of Christmas comes to life throughout the garden. With enchanting interpretations of the classic carol, there’s something to captivate both children and adults alike. Visitors can expect delightful sights and fun activities, all while brushing up on their carol lyrics. The trail begins on 30 November, running through weekends in December, and will also be open during the two-week school holiday (closed on 24 and 25 December).
Christmas at Prior Park
Visitors can take a winter walk through the garden, where the crisp air, birdsong, and mist over the lakes create a magical atmosphere. The Tea Cabin will offer festive treats, including mince pies, Christmas cake, and hot chocolate. The Palladian bridge will be beautifully decorated, perfect for photo opportunities or simply as a scenic backdrop for a festive outing.
Step into a Victorian Christmas at Tyntesfield
Now, let’s transport you back in time to Tyntesfield, where you can experience a truly Victorian Christmas. Why not craft your own Christmas cards through lino printing, and wreath making. The house will be adorned with decorations reflecting how each room was once used by its former residents. Visitors can expect literary-themed decorations in the library, culinary displays in the dining room, and an interactive Christmas experience in the kitchen.
Outside, the aviary will be decorated with inspiration from winter scenes, while large sculptural trees will fill the orangery. The chapel courtyard will be transformed into a Dickensian Christmas street scene. Children can enjoy a ride on the carousel in front of Tyntesfield House, participate in a festive trail through the house, and explore the estate on a Christmas reindeer trail.
