Here at Pitts Farm Cottages, we care about the environment and the impact we, as a business, have on it. From the products we use to the products we provide in the cottages, we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Here are some of the ways we are reducing our carbon footprint and being kinder to the environment.
- Our energy supplied, is from green energy
- All properties have double glazing throughout
- We have smart heating controls / thermostatic radiator valves
- Our website is green hosted
- We have reduced our plastic waste by using glass bottles for milk, refillable soap bottles, refillable cleaning products
- We use eco-friendly washing tabs and dishwasher tablets
- We recycle, reuse or mend items
- The picnic sets we supply are bamboo, not plastic
- We use local suppliers for our welcome box, cutting down the miles travelled
- We have several water saving measures in place. We removed the hot tub, we have dual flush toilets, we encourage guests to use the dishwasher (believe it or not, this uses less water on average, than handwashing!), we have rain water collections for watering the gardens
Our future plans include
- Changing all bulbs to LED
- All new appliances to be A++ rated
- Planting more trees
- Creating a pond to catch surface run off water
